This achievement marks yet another award for the academy in 2026, exhibiting APC’s dedication to an ethical culture within their school. — Joseph Schifano
The BBB Torch Award was established in the 1990’s to honor for-profit companies and non-profit organizations for professional conduct with their employees, community, and industry. Created by the Better Business Bureau, this designation emphasizes trust in the workplace and is awarded to businesses committed to operating ethically.

The Torch Award for Ethics is based on nominations. Every nominee is evaluated across the “Four C’s,” which are character, culture, customers, and community. To be eligible to win this award, the nominees must have been in business for at least three years and have a rating of at least a “B” on BBB. The APC boasts 33 years in business and an A+ rating on BBB.
While this is the first award APC has received from the BBB, this is not the first award APC has received in 2026. Just this year, the academy won three other awards, including #1 trade school in St. Charles, Best Pet Career Education Provider, and Best Higher Education Provider. These awards are further acknowledgement of APC’s reputation.
Ethics has always been important at The Academy of Pet Careers. Through their Pet Empowerment Framework, APC students learn how to work with animals in a gentle and humane way, building a strong bond between the student and the animal. With this new award under their belt, APC has demonstrated that they enforce ethical practices inside and outside of the classroom.
